Touch-Free Detection Solutions for Pedestrian Safety

The FLIR TrafiOne[1]is a cost-effective detection sensor that uses thermal imaging to detect both the presence and occupancy of pedestrians at a crossing or intersection. Providing a touch-free solution that traffic engineers can use to improve traffic flow and protect vulnerable road users.

Additionally, unlike the press of a crosswalk button, the added detection data can be used with smart analytics to provide additional traffic insights and improve traffic flow. Whilst detection also allows trigger cancellation if a person moves away from the capture area.

 

FLIR thermal and visual analytics provide real-time traffic signal control by detecting the presence of vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians at intersections. This generates valuable traffic data, including counts, occupancy, classification at the stopbar and between intersections. By anonymously using Wi-Fi technology to track how people and vehicles move at intersections, FLIR sensors measure travel times, delays, points of origin and destinations. FLIR integrates both presence data and traffic flow data into a single source in the cloud, resulting in high-resolution, high-quality intersection data.
